InnSight Technology & OcuCheck
From physical prototype to digital hub

Overview
My journey with InnSight Technology, Inc, a startup ophthalmic device company, spanned the full spectrum of product development.
Applying my master's-level training in physical product development, I initially collaborated on the flagship OcuCheck™ medical device in the capacity of an industrial designer, before transitioning to lead the company's visual design, print marketing, and web presence.
Role
Scope
Designing the physical device
I joined the InnSight team in 2016 to focus on the tangible product experience. Collaborating closely with ophthalmologists and bioengineers, my role as an industrial designer ensured that the OcuCheck diagnostic device was not only functionally sound but ergonomically optimized for the end-user in a clinical setting.
Creating the startup ecosystem
In 2017, my role expanded to establish the visual and marketing foundation necessary for a growing medical startup.
Conference collateral
I designed the business cards, promotional materials, and large-scale research posters utilized at various events, such as NSF and HFES conferences.
Digital footprint
I established and maintained the company's initial social media presence across platforms like Twitter and Facebook to build early brand awareness.
Product visualization
To bridge the physical-to-digital gap, I created high-fidelity mockups of the device "in use" alongside custom illustrations detailing various clinical settings.
Tangible brand touchpoints: print & event collateral
In the medical device industry, establishing immediate credibility with investors and healthcare professionals requires a highly polished physical presence. To support the founders in securing vital funding and building market awareness, I designed and managed the production of a cohesive suite of printed collateral.
This ecosystem ranged from foundational brand assets—like business cards and trifold patient-education pamphlets—to data-rich, large-format research posters for various events, such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR/STTR Phase II Grantee Conference in Atlanta, the European Academy of Design International Conference in Rome (Italy), the Symposium for Applied Research for Community Health through Engineering and Simulation (ARCHES), and the International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care. By translating complex bioengineering data and clinical use cases into accessible, visually engaging layouts, I equipped the executive team with the tangible tools they needed to pitch confidently on the national stage.

Maintainable digital home
The startup needed a clean, innovative digital hub that the founders could easily update themselves.
I wireframed and designed the site, ultimately building it out in Squarespace. I utilized custom-created images and integrated 3D mockups of the physical product I helped design, ensuring the website perfectly aligned with the brand's cutting-edge medical strategy and marketing materials.
